Try doing a Google and Ebay search for Newey Hooks-i got some like this a while back.
nope. you want the green lightweight resi case for late war, they hold a fair bit of gear .As for commando, i dont think they carried resperators at all late war.

Just walk into any dress making/sewing shop. They will have them. Ask for 'hooks and eyes'.
I even got some black safety pins for a US bandolieer from one such shop.
I agree with Scaleyback. You should pay less for a lightweight resp bag than for a MKVII too.

W S Surplus sell these completely mint condition, still folded as they were when removed from the delivery bundles, 1943 dated and only £3!

Lightweight bags are "correct" for late war and reenactment but, for airsoft, a Mk7 is very practical too, for storing ammo, gas, etc.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
A mark VII can supplement your Indianna Jones impression too. ![]()
W S Surplus? do they have a website, where are they? Are they selling MKVII for £3 or the lightweight? Either is a steal.

They sell the lightweights for £3 - in never-touched condition. They sell a lot of good stuff, most at reasonable prices and some things at blummin' great prices. No website I'm afraid (except for their Office Furniture business, which hasn't got anything to do with the military surplus - so don't even try!). rushwBAWSS has just received a small pack and light-weight resi' pouch from them, via me. A lot of WWII stuff, or mostly post war stuff?
Cos, they look to me to be on the way to Portsmouth from up north and so may be somewhere to drop in to on the way down to Freshman.
But if it's all post war stuff, then it's not worth it!

No Yith, not a 'lot' of WW2 stuff, but a fair deal of it - i.e: just the few usable items of Brit gear, but a collection of other countries kit from the '40s too - as well as everything up to modern day. They sell everything in an "as-new", or "used, but cleaned folded and stored nicely" state. No bins or boxes to rummage.
If you want to rummage, and are on your way down, pop into the surplus shop in Banbury (directly north of Oxford), some good and/or usable stuff there (especially if you need old style boots!).

If they have small packs then they are useful. Whilst not hard to find they are going up in price. E-bay price is about £20 for a nice unblancoed one.

£10, and with a free brace to use as a shoulder strap. All brass and/or austerity gunmetal fixtures. All 1943/44 dated, again, still folded as they were out of the bale from the factory 67 years ago.

Heh, no it was just a bit of a necro-post, and seeings as no-one had jumped at this extreme bargain, I thought otherwise ![]()
There's only so many that I can buy and stuff into my collection for myself, y'see
I'll pick you up a nice one (sure you only want one at these prices?
) Due to different manufacturers and material availability of the time; would you prefer a metal ended locking tab (be it gun-metal or brass) or a bare ended locking tab? And gun-metal or brass fixtures-and-beltclips?
They also had some of the rarer very dark green ones for use with '44patt. Same price too, but I don't know if they've any left.

Their Eynsham shop only sells office furniture unfortunately, but their military surplus store is down the road in Oxford itself, in Botley (in the retail park area - get directions for 'Maplin' electronics shop to find it).
EDIT: And if anyone is wondering why they're called "The Dragon Bag" on the display, it's because of the local private school - "Dragon something or other" - has had them issued as school lunch bags since the '60s! (so I'm told). So parents go there to buy the traditional school satchel, being it a war-time dated resi' bag!
It really is a sight to see all these little kids in posh blazers with resi' bags slung over their shoulders
Very evacuation-era looking....

Do they have MK VIIs as well?
Do they have MK VIIs as well?
Unfortunately not
Other things of interest (for Brits) that I've bought from them before:
Mint condition un-issed war dated small packs for £10
Mint condition un-issed war dated large packs for £13
Mint condition un-issed post-war canvas wash basins for £2.50
Putties - 50p a pair! (May have sold out)
Mint condition un-issed british army pattern wooden tent pegs 60p for small 'uns and 90p for big 'uns (which, if you've tried shopping for proper wooden tent pegs, is cheap
)
And other 'specials' and 'one-offs' that they find in the back of their warehouse and sell off really cheaply;
i.e, from the Latest Acquisitions thread:
From my local Army surplus (which usually doesn't sell odds 'n' ends such as these, normally only large lots of unissued or good condition items):
British 1940s dated wool shirt, with correct "trouser fly" bottom half (unlike my 1951 straight fronted wool shirt), colour slightly faded and a small rip/hole has been sewn up £1.50
A pair of very worn, but still usable original British non-elastic braces £1.00
An unissued STEN sling £2.00
Could also be some good items (genuine/post-war/looky-likey) for the Germans and US, but I just don't know what I'm looking for when it comes to that kinda stuff, y'see.
